questions.
The short answers. For anything else, write to hello@whatworksstudio.com.
What does What Works Studio do?
We’re an independent strategy and creative studio. We help organizations grow through strategy, marketing, brand, and better systems, from go-to-market plans to brand campaigns to social media.
Where are you located?
San Diego, California and Baltimore, Maryland. We work with clients across the U.S.
Who runs What Works Studio?
Brooke Hall and Justin Allen, who have led the studio together since 2009. Brooke co-created Light City, Baltimore’s international light festival, and the arts and culture publication What Weekly.
What kinds of organizations do you work with?
Mostly waterfronts and destinations, healthcare organizations, energy and infrastructure companies, and nonprofits. Clients include GreenWell Energy, Kaiser Permanente, and Harbor Boating / Baltimore Water Taxi.
Did you create Mr. Trash Wheel?
We created Mr. Trash Wheel’s personality: his name, his googly eyes, his voice, and the social presence that made him an internet celebrity. The trash interceptor itself was invented by Clearwater Mills.
Can you work alongside our in-house team?
Yes. Much of our work, especially content and social, plugs into existing marketing teams.
