Strengthening Two Chapters with New Websites and a Unified Outward Bound Brand

We created a full suite of digital and print assets for Baltimore Outward Bound and designed a new website for the Philadelphia chapter, reinforcing brand consistency across regions.

What Works Studio has partnered with the Baltimore Chesapeake Bay Outward Bound School for many years, supporting its mission through a wide range of digital and print initiatives. From annual reports to campaign materials to a full website redesign, our work has helped the chapter strengthen its voice and connect more deeply with students, educators, donors, and community partners. This long-standing collaboration set the stage for a second major engagement: the Philadelphia Outward Bound School selected What Works Studio to design and develop its new website after seeing the impact of our work in Baltimore.

The challenge across both chapters was creating websites and print assets that honored the national Outward Bound visual identity while giving each school a unique sense of place. For Baltimore, we crafted a responsive, user-friendly site that reflected the region’s distinctive programs and outdoor experiences. The design balanced national brand standards with local storytelling, improving navigation and making enrollment, giving, and partnership pathways more intuitive. For Philadelphia, we carried forward the same commitment to clarity, cohesion, and mission-driven communication, producing a website that reinforced consistency across chapters while serving the city’s unique audience and programming.

Beyond digital design, our team produced a suite of print materials for both chapters, including annual reports, event invitations, and campaign collateral. Each piece was crafted to communicate impact, invite participation, and embody the spirit of outdoor leadership. The result was a comprehensive set of tools that elevated fundraising, strengthened community engagement, and showcased the transformative power of Outward Bound’s work.
